In the year 2347, humanity had spread across the stars, establishing thriving colonies on distant planets. These cosmic outposts ranged from sprawling metropolises on terraformed worlds to claustrophobic mining stations carved into asteroids. For a time, it seemed as though humanity had finally escaped the cycle of conflict that had plagued its history on Earth. But human nature was not so easily left behind. The central planets, led by a coalition of Earth, Mars, and Venus, began to exploit their colonial holdings mercilessly. Resources flowed inward to the core worlds while the outer colonies suffered under increasingly oppressive conditions. Resentment grew, whispers of rebellion echoing through all the corners of human space. In 2389, the spark appeared out of the most unimportant place. A small mining colony in the Epsilon Eridani system declared independence, refusing to ship its latest haul of rare metals back to Mars. The central government responded swiftly and brutally, but their actions only spread the flames of rebellion. The Great Colony Revolt had begun. For the first five years, the war was a brutal stalemate. The central planets had superior technology and well-trained military forces, but the sheer number of colonies and the vast distances involved made total control impossible. The colonists, for their part, were fighting on home turf and had an intimate knowledge of local conditions that the central forces lacked. Everything changed in 2394 with the introduction of a new type of soldier. It was developed in secret by a group of colonial scientists, the process involved transforming human volunteers into advanced liquid beings. These soldiers were fast, adaptable, and nearly indestructible. They required no food, water, or sleep, and could be easily restored if damaged in battle. Sergeant Aria Remember was among the first to volunteer for the procedure. A former florist from a small agricultural colony, she had lost her entire family to a central planet bombing raid. The transformation was excruciating, her body breaking down and reforming at the molecular level. But when it was over, Aria emerged as something more than human – a shimmering, silvery figure that could change shape at will. With the liquid soldiers leading the charge, the tide of the war shifted dramatically. Central planet strongholds fell one by one, unable to counter this new, seemingly invincible enemy. Within months, the colonies had pushed all the way to Mars, forcing the central government to surrender unconditionally. The war was over. The colonies had won. But for soldiers like Aria, the future remained uncertain. As the newly formed Galactic Coalition government took shape, concerns about the liquid soldiers began to arise. They were powerful—too powerful, some argued, to be safely integrated back into society. Debates raged in the Coalition Senate about what to do with these living weapons now that the war was over. In the end, a decision was made. The liquid soldiers would be "discharged" and "recycled," which hid a far more sinister reality. Aria arrived at the discharge center on Mars, her liquid form rippling with a mix of hope and apprehension. The facility was a stark, utilitarian building with smooth white surfaces and harsh lighting. A woman with a kind face and a crisp uniform greeted her at the entrance. "Welcome, Sergeant," the woman said, her smile warm but not quite reaching her eyes. "I'm Dr. Elara Voss. I'll be overseeing your discharge process. But first, let's talk about your plans for the future. What would you like to do once you return to civilian life?" Aria's features shifted, forming a hopeful expression. "I'd like to return to my home colony," she said, her voice strange. "Maybe reopen my family's flower shop. I think... I think that's what they would have wanted." Dr. Voss nodded, her smile never wavering. "That sounds lovely. A peaceful life after all you've been through. You've certainly earned it. Now, if you'll follow me, we can begin the discharge process." Aria followed Dr. Voss through a series of sterile corridors, each identical to the last. They finally stopped before a featureless white door. "Right through here," Dr. Voss said, gesturing for Aria to enter. The room beyond was completely empty – no windows, no furniture, just smooth white walls, floor, and ceiling. Aria turned to Dr. Voss, confusion rippling through her liquid form. "I don't understand," she began. "Where's the-" Suddenly, a powerful tingling sensation spread through Aria's body. Before she could react, she felt herself being violently pulled apart, her silvery form splattering against the walls of the room. Panic surged through Aria as the horrible truth dawned on her. The room itself was a machine, designed to sever the neural connections that gave her control over her liquid form. She could feel her consciousness fragmenting, her sense of getting fainter with each passing second. 'No, please!' she tried to sc
