(Commission cap for orginalname1) The apartment smelled like mold and desperation. Mia pressed her back against the peeling wallpaper as three men in dark suits loomed over her father. One of them grabbed the lamp from the side table and smashed it against the floor. Glass scattered everywhere. "Last warning, Johndon," the tallest one growled. "You got two weeks. After that, we start taking fingers." Her father's hands trembled. "Please, I just need more time. My business will..." "Your business is shit." The man spat on the floor. "Two weeks." Her mother sobbed quietly in the corner. Mia's fingertips pressed together unconsciously, her skills useless against this kind of problem. She had dreamed to be a cop since she was five years old. She had filled out the application three times, perfecting every word. But the tuition was impossible. She worked at the convenience store now instead, counting coins that never added up to enough. "I'm sorry, sweetheart," her father whispered. His face looked gray. Old. "I'm so sorry." Three days later, a black car arrived. A woman in expensive clothes stepped out. She handed Mia's father an envelope. Inside was a contract and a check with more zeros than Mia had ever seen. "The Fontain family has a proposition," the woman said. Her smile was too perfect. "Your daughter. One evening. Our client has specific tastes, and your daughter matches the profile exactly. In exchange, your debt disappears. Completely." Her father's face went white. "What kind of tastes?" "That's not your concern. She'll be treated well. Fed. Comfortable. And you'll never hear from your creditors again." Mia looked at the check. At her mother's hollow eyes. At the broken furniture. She thought about her dreams of becoming a cop. About the hero she'd never become. "I'll do it," she said. Her voice didn't shake. She made herself smile. "It's okay, Mom. Dad. I'll do it." Her mother screamed. Her father tried to argue. But Mia had already made up her mind. The woman's smile widened. "Excellent choice." The warehouse was freezing. Mia's breath came out in clouds. Men in masks surrounded her. One of them held a canister. Another had a camera. They didn't speak. One of them grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the center of the room where a metal table waited. "Wait," Mia said. Her smile felt painted on. "What's happening? What are you going to...." The spray hit her face. It smelled sweet, but chemical. Her skin started tingling immediately. Not painful it was just weird. Like her whole body was buzzing. "What is this?" She tried to lift her hand to wipe her eyes. Her arm felt heavy. Wrong. The tingling spread down her neck. Into her chest. She looked down and gasped. Her skin was changing color. Darkening turning brown, not like a tan. Like bread it looked like toasted bread. "No. No no no." She tried to move, but nothing happened. Her fingertips were fusing together. Flattening. She couldn't separate them anymore. The men stepped back. One of them nodded. Another spray hit her legs. Her thighs started swelling. Growing rounder getting softer. She fell to the ground but didn't feel the impact. Her body was becoming squishy and pliable. Her chest expanded. Not like before. Not like flesh. Her breasts ballooned into perfect red tomatoes slices. She could see them growing in front of her face. Her nipples disappeared completely, replaced by smooth tomato skin. "Mmmph!" She tried to scream, but her mouth was sealed shut. Her lips pressed together and vanished into smooth bun texture. Her nose flattened. Her eyes stayed open but she couldn't blink anymore. Couldn't move them. Just frozen in place, staring forward. Her torso compressed. Squished down into a thick patty shape. She could feel her internal organs rearranging. Her heart stopped beating but she didn't die. Her lungs dissolved. She didn't need them anymore. Her stomach flattened into a layer of meat. Beef. She was becoming beef. Lettuce sprouted from her back. Cold. Crisp. It layered itself across her compressed body. Then cheese. Melted. Hot. It oozed across the lettuce and the tomatoes that used to be her breasts. Pickles appeared next to her face. She couldn't turn her head to see them, but she could smell the vinegar. Her legs fused together. Merged into the bottom bun. Her arms shrank. Pulled into her sides. Disappeared completely into the burger structure. She was just a stack now. Her face moved to the top bun, settling onto her head, pressing down, completing the transformation. She couldn't scream. Couldn't cry or move at all. But she could think. She could feel. Every part of her new body was sensitive. The cheese was warm against the lettuce. The pickles were cold against her cheek. The meat was dense. Heavy. She was food. Completely food. The men picked her up. She felt their gloved hands pressing into the bun. They placed her into a white box. Then into something hot. A warming container. The heat soaked through her. Made the cheese melt
